review 1: I didn't realize that I was at the end of the book. Nan Rossiter is a very good storyteller. Things flowed very easily. This story is about the friendship between the Coleman and Shepherd families. It goes back 3 generations in a small New England town in Cape Cod. Samuel and Sarah Coleman have two handsome sons, Issac and Asa. Both are college bond and the story is about one particular summer when Asa turns 18 years old. Nate Shepherd was married to Annie, but she past away from cancer. His nurse, Noelle, was there to help cope with the depression that Nate experienced. They got to talking and found that they had a lot in common. So much so that they got married about 2 years later even if Noelle was about 18 years younger. Each summer the two famil... moreies would enjoy their favorite drink - gin and tonic - and prepare their family recipe for chowder. The story starts off with that summer Asa turns 18 and then continues about 5 years later. I enjoyed the story. Lots of love, fun, and heartache.
review 2: The Gin & Chowder Club by Nan RossiterThis book is about 2 families on Cape Cod and it's summer. Traditions drew them together and keep them on the island along with their businesses.Loved hearing how the book got it's title. The two brothers are in love. Asa is in love but he's torn and writes his poetry that he keeps to himself.Isaac is into the nightly party scene and keeps busy with Jen-one of the girls on the island. He has another at college when he's there for the off season months. They are both so confused as to love and relationships and like trying things out.I especially liked the conflicts and the location, very detailed descriptions of the seashore and nature. Not many characters and they are easy to keep track of. When the summer ends he heads off to college in NH. He can't take the pressures and his father comes to the rescue but is it going to be enough? He had relied on God til he had met her. She is having a difficult time of things also and contemplates what to do.Lots of romance and hot passionate sex. I received this book from Ocean State Library Service. less

I liked this book. Yes, it was a fast read, but it was a fresh glass of water on a hot day.

No thank you. As soon as I realized it was sex/infidelity based I was out.
