review 1: Weird, weird book but I still enjoyed it. Owen Egerton is part of Master Pancake, the hilarious group in Austin that shows films at the Alamo Drafthouse and mocks them, so I was curious to see what his book is like. Very clever, though the 3 stars is because clever becomes quickly convoluted. It is, though, in the tradition of another book I read this year, Good Omens, a book with many subplots and overtly religious references about the end of the world and the (mostly) ordinary people trapped in it. There are great commentaries on various religious rituals and Christian denominations throughout the book, but ultimately it just got too big for itself.

... moreever, I'm gonna take what has been proposed towards heaven, hell, aliens, spirits, and the common man and his outrageous spirit. And think about it. Cuz it's an amazing book. The downside to this novel, the jump in perspectives made it a tad hard to follow. As well, I got lost in some of the wild language towards the end.I'd recommend it to anyone that would like a nice philosophical book that doesn't scream it's notions but reminds you a lot. (Sorry but that's the middle ground) less
