review 1: I've never read a novel by Phillip Tomasso before but I sure will be looking into him so more(and already buy Book 2)If you enjoyed The Walking Dead show, try this one : graphic scenes, f-word used but not too much (what would you do if a rotten zombie just prepared itsel to strike ? "oh mon dieu" just doesn't seem to convey the same sentiment). In the beginning I didn't care a lot about Chase (the main character)but his try to reconnect with his 2 children while suffering his unexpected companions, give me hope he will turn into a decent humain being and not the jerk we discover.Well done Mr Tomasso and I can't wait for Book 3 !! (Jan-Feb 2014 right ?)
review 2: I had a lot of issues with this book. At first it was the grammatical style that was challenging to
... more process- I didn't stop to analyze the common threads, but I'm pretty sure a lot was due to dangling modifiers. A few chapters in I seemed to get the hang of it and it went alright from there, but I was very sensitive to editing errors after that. Then I started to get frustrated with the plot- "I have to save my kids! Without them my life is nothing... but it's totally okay if we detour for X for a few hours first." Next, let's just say whoever gave Chase a driver's license is an idiot. These are two of the points that really got me disliking the antagonist. He just has a knack for boneheaded actions that basically invalidate entire chapters and fuel the feeling that he is totally wasting time while his kids are on their own. Then there's the female protagonist lead whose dialogue amounted to 33% "Chase, " 66% Other. There are just so many times an author can get away using this as a way of building suspense for the next zombie sighting. It apparently annoyed Chase and it annoyed me too.But if you can get past the two main leads being annoying and the early grammatical style being frustrating, the zombie story is somewhat enjoyable. I'm not inclined to read more, however. less
