review 1: Great historical fiction novel about the pacific theater during World War II. I especially enjoyed the war sequences, but not so much the sex scenes. My other problem with the book is that I am not a naval scholar, so a lot of the jargon used was wasted on me - it would have been nice to have had a cheat sheet at the end of the book to explain what the author meant when he called certain ships "jeeps," etc.
review 2: I'll try to do a proper review later. But here are a few comments for now. As most of my reading friends know, I love military WW II stories, fiction or historical; Air Corps, Army or Navy. This book may be the best work of naval fiction (although much of it is true) that I've ever read. The characters were so real, I could picture them in mind's
... more eye. The plot was clear and stays on point like few fictional stories ever do. And unlike many works of fiction, the editing was spotless. I was absorbed from beginning to end and was actually disappointed to reach the end. This is one book I heartily recommend to one and all, especially those who appreciate good solid military fiction. I'll be reading more of the author's work. less

LOVED this book - probably because it was involved the Navy during World War II.
