Plot:
[Taken from Goodreads.]

As the shadows of the Empire loom every larger across the galaxy, so do deeply troubling rumors. The Rebellion has learned of a sinister Imperial plot to bring the entire worlds to their knees. Deep in Empire-dominated space, a machine of unimaginable destructive power is nearing completion. A weapon too terrifying to contemplate… and a threat that may be too great to overcome.

My Thoughts | Meine Gedanken:

I was a little disappointed by this. I love the movie so much, but the book didn’t satisfy me at all. First I didn’t get warm with the writing style, it took me very long to really get into it. Mostly it is following the exact plot of the movie, just the files pushed in between chapters are different and here and there a scene is a little longer. Basically it’s like reading the movie but not as good at all. A lot that I love so much in the movie was missing for me in the book. You’d think this is the book-movie relationship you’ve been waiting for. Every detail the same, the exact book turned into a book – but no, for once the movie is actually better. The fighting scenes are held very short. In the movie, for example, you have the look Cassian gives Jyn after she fights off a bunch of Stormtroopers, this look that says so much, but nothing about it in the book. Then there is Krennic who thinks himself so great, but is only annoying the hell out of me every time he appears, I could barely get myself to read his parts. But there is one thing I didn’t liked even more… You know the little girl Jyn saves at the beginning? You know she dies when the planet is destroyed later, of course you do – but in the book it is describe and I can’t understand how someone can write something like this. It’s her father all being, he’s sorry and he’ll later to this and that with her and then it’s like, yes, now his life is wiped out. It’s too much for me.

Minus-Points:
–The writing. | Der Schreibstil.
–Doesn’t give the same feeling as the movie.
Plus-Points:
+More of my favorite characters. | Mehr von meinen liebsten Charakteren.

Favorite Quote | Lieblingszitat:
“Rebellions are built on hope.”
Favorite Characters | Lieblingscharakter: Jyn & Cassian

Note | Anmerkung: Based on the movie “Rogue One – A Star Wars Story”.
