Happy New Year! Let 2018 be the year of the nerd!
It is a bright new year with so much to look forward to, especially on the big screen. In the Marvel Universe we will finally see the culmination of years of story building in Avengers: Infinity War. We will also be graced with one of my favorite actors, Paul Rudd in a new Ant Man flick.
Outside of Marvel there is Solo: A Star Wars Story, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Ready Player One, Aquaman, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix all coming to theaters. I am definitely going to be burning a hole in my Movie Pass card with so much to geek out to.
If you haven’t discovered Movie Pass yet, drop what you are doing and download the app. Then come back and finish this blog. For $10 a month you can see one movie every day of the month. It works at all the theaters in my area, and there have been no restrictions. Trust me this is not a sales pitch, just something I am super excited about. Here is the link Movie Pass Site
While looking forward to all these awesome films coming out in 2018 it is also time to set some New Years Resolutions. Topping my list is a lofty goal….. Visit more breweries. I feel remiss that there are still quite a few in my own backyard that I have not checked out yet. I’m making a list and Bone Hook, Riptide, South Cypress, Naples Beach Brewery I am coming for you.
Luckily I had the chance recently to cross the newest addition to the local craft beer scene Peace River Beer Company off of my list. Located just off US 41 in in a huge facility that used to be a spice factory in Punta Gorda this place is amazing. The taproom is huge and adorned with all kinds of river theming making you feel like you have gone to summer camp…. but with beer! There is a giant stage with indoor picnic tables and lots of space to spread out. The bar top is river rock with items that you would find floating down the river.
Peace River Beer Company was started by the same guys that operate Bury Me Brewing in Fort Myers so some of their beers are normally on tap. The day I was in to visit Peace River had ten of their own all new brews on draft. I was a big fan of the salty Gose, and the smooth dark Pitch Tent Porter.
They have plans for an outdoor beer garden and lots of room for production to expand in the back. I look forward to coming back to this spot and seeing how it grows. This is the kind of location that will thrive with local artist and family and friends making it a community. Check out the rest of the brewery photos and like our facebook page here.
