Review: Case Closed Vol. 24 | rants | fangirlerosis

Me ranting is never a good idea.

Right now I am internally screaming for 3 very different, yet apparent reasons, being a) this is my first book review on Free Perspectives, b) I love ranting and fangirling, and c) it’s about Detective Conan.

If you don’t know what Detective Conan/Case Closed is, then *coughcough* HOW COULD YOU?! It is like the best thing ever invented arghhhhhhhhhhhh and I’m doing my first book review here about it arghhhhhhhhhh I love fangirling arghhhhhhh

That was too much

Did I overwhelm you with fangirling? Or is it my ranting? Or is it both? Hmm I question… If you have no idea what I am talking about, I highly suggest that you visit my dear old friend Wikipedia then come back. #shameless

I’m splitting this post into 2 sections – one is the actual review, and the other is the fangirl rant sesh.

Disclaimer:

  • extreme levels of fangirling and ranting, precaution
  • this post is ALL spoilers for the last part
  • But if you have not read this series yet, or if you are into my weird posts, or if you just don’t give a sh*t about it and think like “screw it”, then please proceed. With caution.

p.s: I’m changing the English names back to its original Japanese names; I like it better XD #selfish

    The Actual Review

    Title: Detective Conan Vol. 24

    Author: Gosho Aoyama

    Genre: anime, mystery

    Summary

(taken from back of the book)

    In this exciting volume:

    LOVE AND DEATH

Usually, Conan’s mind is focused on detective work. But when Ran (Rachel) falls for a handsome young doctor at a crime scene, suddenly the pint-size detective can’t concentrate on the case. As Ran (Rachel) threatens to give up on the perennially unavailable Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo), Conan starts to harbor murderous thoughts of his own…

Then the Syndicate returns! At a start-studded film festival, Conan and Haibara (Anita) face the shady organization that turned them into kids. But the game changes forever when one of them transforms back to the right age!

    Pros

    1. Really interesting plot

    i mean it

    Oh. And that’s Gin.

So if you didn’t know, each volume has 2-3 cases, and I have to say that this one has one of the best I have ever read so far! The first case, File 1 to File 2, is a continuation from volume 23, and DEAR ME it was soooooo nerve-wracking!!! These two people (*wink* not ruining it for you) almost got caught in an explosion for this old building demolition…

The second case, File 3 to 6, OMG is Ran (Rachel) really going to dump her old childhood detective friend (aka long time crush) for real??? *freaking out* I’m trying to stay composed until part 2…

File 7 to 11: the Black Organization is in Beika City, and are have they discovered Conan and Anita’s real identity? Is their cover blown for real?!

    2. Deduction understandable and legit

Some murder plots are like impossible to understand unless you are the author. Or any great detective. Even though every case in Detective Conan (both comic book, episodes, and movies) are complicated, it is always described really clearly at the end, so you know what is going up.

    Cons

    1. File 1-2

I feel like the whole plot was a little bit dragged out. I guess with 5 kids (2 shrunk into kids) tagging along…

the three on the left are real grade 1s XD

    2. File 3-6

It was like half murder deduction and half romance inclined. Usually I don’t like romance (I cringe), but I’m fine with Detective Conan. Still, it was kind off like unusual?!

    3. File 7-11

The deduction took me a second to understand it, with the whole undercover “Pisco” guy, and if Gin (one of top agents in syndicate) knows that Haibara (Anita) and Shiho (Haibara before she turned small) are the same person.

    Conclusion

ONE OF THE BEST VOLUMES I HAVE EVER READ

Would I suggest it, as well as getting addicted to Detective Conan comics, episodes (there’s over 800!!!), and movies? But overall this book? YES

    The Rant

(the moment you have all been waiting for)

Before I start my long annoying rant, please refer to the disclaimer above. I’m not liable for disappointment and you getting angry at me.

    File 1-2

OMG the fact that Sato (detective/police officer at Metropolitan Police) was so sympathetic with the wrongly accused father’s daughter… He told her (Sato) that he was innocent, and that she had to let him go because after his divorce, for 17 years he thought that his daughter hated him. He said that his daughter invited him to her wedding, and that he said that he had to be there for her
