review 1: The blurbs on the back of the book jacket give the impression that this book is mostly humorous but that is not what kept me reading. Instead, I was drawn in to Rhoda's involvement with her boyfriend/fiancee/husband and his deep Pentecostal faith. Not an easy transition for someone coming for her deeply analytic background. And all of this while she is battling with very aggressive breast cancer.
review 2: I was intrigued by this book-- a woman who was raised as a Mennonite and is now a professor begins dating a Pentecostal man and converts to Pentecostalism. I was hoping this book would have a lot in common with Lauren Winner's writing (practicing Christian in academia to the confusion of both her church and academic friends) but really there was just nothing
... more interesting about this memoir, which was a shame given the potential. less

Also called Mennonite Meets Mister Right. A very fun book and very insightful at the same time.

I laughed, cried, I read passages out loud. I love Janzen's writing style.
