review 1: The Berlin Boxing Club is a historical fiction book that reads like a fantastic biography. The book was so interesting, in fact, that I read the entire thing in one night. I just couldn't put it down. It is powerful, thoughtful, and provides meaningful insight into what the world was like many years ago during Hitler's rise to power. It is obvious that Robert Sharenow did his research, and the book is amazing because of it. I have no complaints.
review 2: A powerful coming of age story set in Nazi Germany. It is a fabulous novel, filled with angst, grief, terror, survival, and the desire to overcome obstacles in the midst of racism and ethnocentric idealism on display in Germany. All young men, and women, should be directed to this book if an interest in histo... morerical fiction is present. The protagonist begins the story at the age of 14, and despite the generational gulf, I am sure boys today will relate to the underlying traits of self doubt while navigating the teenage years. less
