review 1: I love fantasy that involves Russia. Why? I have no idea. Either way, this was one was quite good. I ordered the next two from the library already. This book was exciting but also had a nice mix of cozy. This book also felt like it was building up to a lot, so I’m looking forward to how the story progresses. It involves an sinister cast of characters and good ole necromancy. I enjoyed the main character and the settings were awesome. So yes, this book was quite good.
review 2: I just absolutely adore this book! As I've said before in previous stats, I love this story because it is a blend of some of my favorite genres like historical fiction, romance, royalty and vampires & werewolves and necromancy (thanks to Susan Dennard!!)! I would have loved Crown Prince... more Danilo if he hadn't been a blood drinker and pure evil! And I can't wait to find out more about Katerina and Grand Duke George! I hope they will become a couple! I praise female protagonist for standing their ground and sticking up for what they believe in but sometimes I just want them to put that aside for a bit and accept and admit they have feelings for someone!! :) I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book!! :) less
