review 1: With so many complaints about this novel's 'thematic elements' I decided that I'd have to read it, and Im thrilled I did. With a refreshing spin on the fantasy world, Rowan brings in a nice mixture of race, sexuality, equality, and political issues. It's lovely to see those rarely represented in fantasy literature finally at the forefront of the story. What a lovely book - but watch out for the ending. Because you'll want the sequel that doesnt exist.
