review 1: This book saddened me as much as it intrigued me. Unlike other groupie books or art (think Pamela Des Barres or Penny Lane of Almost Famous fame) the author's story seems tragic, even while she is supposedly having a great time. Had she even sounded somewhat enthralled by the sexual acts she was engaging in I could have thrown my support behind her mantra of "have sex with anyone you want, whenever, wherever and in any way", but as she writes the words it feels like she's trying to justify that theory. When in actuality it seems she believes the first assertion that women should enjoy sex with whomever and not be made to feel like crap, yet did not feel that way after or even during the sex acts. She seems to battle against the feeling of worthlessness the acts bring her. ... moreThe book seems to do more to oppose what she wants to assert than actually reinforce. The author makes the opposite of the point she goes for and appears to do harm to the very feminist theory she proposes.Some great stories, some fun times and many raunchy bits.
review 2: completely bonkers. it's an interesting story. i believe it was published by neil strauss also. the thing that i found amazing about this book was how she completely subjugated herself to the sexual whims of these really third string metal dudes. i just didn't understand what she got out of it all, clearly she went through some difficult times. it's one of those 'race to the bottom of the trashcan' books. i can't say i loved it but i do love me some groupie memoirs and this was that! less
