review 1: I loved this, what a strong (if somewhat opinionated) woman! This should be on the national curriculum - everyone should get a glimpse of what living through such a horrendous time entails to ensure we don't have another repeat.I had no idea quite how bad living through the blitz could be - so many raids in a single day, so little peace and yet ordinary life must go on. It makes me proud to be British.Loved it! Will be reading the rest.
review 2: An excellent book that can be read by 14 +I got this as a freebie and was overcome with the quality of the writing and the interest it kept going while I was reading. You have to remember that this book and the others in the series were drafted from actual diaries that the lady must have written in between air raids or d
... moreuring the air raids if there was light.Worrying about finding enough to eat and if she was bombed out finding clothes.Worrying if her home would still be standing in the morning, worrying about family not in her sight during air raids, worrying about family members serving somewhere else. The writing of the diary may be part of what got the lady through those terrible nights and days. There are four volumes. I got the first three as they came up as freebies but could not wait for Volume 4 and paid for that one.One of the volumes has the author's name written differently and you may have to find that volume using the title only. less
