review 1: I downloaded this book when the author advertised it for free on Amazon. My only regret is that I didn’t read it sooner. I have always loved paranormal and fantasy books and Myers did not let me down! I love the image of the Fae she created. It was unique and interesting. The only speed bump for me was that I got frustrated at times with all the “lying” and withholding of information that the characters were involved in. It didn’t take away from the story, but it did take a while for some discoveries to be made. This is a great book and I do look forward to the next one in the series. In my opinion, Myers did a wonderful job with her first novel!
review 2: As a statement of full disclosure, Ms. Meyers approached me to edit her book after a revie... morew mentioned the edits. Any issues with the edits after this date fall squarely on my shoulders, not Ms. Meyers who is dedicated to providing the most enjoyable read possible. All that said, on to my own thoughts on this story.It was an absolute kick. This is a story I would have no problem recommending to any parent whose looking to get their child to read. There story is not "dumbed down" for its target YA audience. It has a fast pace and provides all the hooks needed to get the reader to want to continue turning the page.There is love, betrayal, and a fantastic villain. The story lays a foundation for an alternate reality full of magic and supernatural creatures. This first book sets up many of the rules for what I am sure will be a continuing saga.I would say that this story is very much targeted to the teen female (like Twilight). Don't discount it based on that as it is simply what I feel is the target audience. However, as a much-older-than-teen male, I still enjoyed the story and believe Ms. Meyers has a series here that will gain a very devoted audience. less
