review 1: I was really inspired by this book. Although my life accomplishments pale in comparison to everything Shawn Johnson has achieved in her life, I still found aspects of personal struggles she lived through that resonated with similar obstacles I've had to overcome in my own life. This book is honest and real, just like Shawn Johnson is. It also flowed well. Johnson is actually a poet on top of all her other talents and there was an ease and flow to reading this book that shows what a true storyteller and wordsmith she is. I learned a lot about Shawn Johnson while reading this book, but what is even more special is she takes us along for the ride so that in the end we also learn a lot about ourselves. At the beginning of this book she alludes to how she wants this book to be... more a journey she can take together with the reader and she ends up doing a very good job of that. I highly recommend this book as an inspiring good read. I hope she writes more books in the future!
review 2: If you have not read Winning Balance: "What I've Learned So Far About Love, Faith, and Living Your Dreams," you are missing out on the thrilling adventures the all-around gymnastics champion, Shawn Johnson, goes through on her gymnastics career. No better explanation of her adventures could be given by anyone else except the one-and-only Shawn Johnson. It gives the full, thrilling explanations since she got started in gymnastics, her training at Chow's School of Dance and Gymnastics, her trip to Karoyli Ranch, her injuries, her leaps through the air, and the full details of her competitions. Many other gymnastics books but Shawn Johnson's book is of no equal. You'll feel like Shawn Johnson herself. That is one thing you'll enjoy. Once you buy and start reading this book, the text will grasp you by its long chains and hold you fast. You won't but the book down until you finish. I give this book a full 5 stars. I completely recommend this book and I'll guarantee you'll love it. less
