review 1: Nice traditional regency story with very likable characters and some very funny lines. The author was true to the period which was very gratifying. Why 3 stars? The story conflicts resolved too quickly and neatly. There were too many secondary characters that destructed from the main story line. Although I loved both main characters, I wish the author portrayed them in more depth as they and their circumstances deserved.
review 2: Regencies are wonderful for the time period and the language and the wit. This had all that but a little more, because the hero was VERY appealing, not only in looks but by his effort to overcome the flaw of his deception.But most of all I really liked the heroine Marian because she wants to fulfill her talent in painting. She doesn't... more spend all her time flirting or thinking what she looks like or how she's dressed.This was believable but also contemporary to me and different enough to be a pleasant surprise. less
