review 1: A recent addition to our collection at work, the title immediately intrigued me. Shon Hopwood recounts his story of time in prison after being convicted of robbing 5 banks in Nebraska. The fascinating aspect of this book involved Hopwood working in the prison's law library. He taught himself legal knowledge that landed another prisoner's appeal in front of the Supreme Court! An inspiring story of redemption, hope and change.
review 2: I really really liked this book. It was inspiring to read about Shon Hopwoods story. A guy that makes a wrong turn can end up coming out okay. He has inspired me, as an attorney, to consider doing criminal defense work. Sometimes good people do bad things and he is a great example of this. If we just helped those in the cr... moreiminal system maybe there wouldn't be such a great number of repeat offenders. A must read-- not greatly written but great storyline. I can see this being made into a movie someday. less
