review 1: In this devastating memoir, the author recalls losing her entire family - a husband, two young sons and both parents - in the tsunami that hit Sri Lanka in 2004. Driven to near madness and suicide through unbearable grief over a period of several months, over the years she slowly begins to piece a life back together without them, honors their memory with loving recall and grasps at a way to manage the void inside so as to not completely overwhelm her.
review 2: This book was heart wrenching. I cannot even comprehend what this woman experienced. It was an extremely emotional book that pays tribute to her lost family. I wish she detailed more of her recovery and acceptance (though I question if she does) of the situation. Instead she relives past experience
... mores, probably just get through each day. But by the end, I feel that she has healing. I just don't know how she got there. less
