review 1: I'm just gonna come right out and say that I kinda loved this book. I put my blinders on and just rolled with it. At first I was a little confused over historical accuracy, then I decided that it was a fantasy world (whether it really was or not that is what I am going with) and to hell with historical accuracy. That pretty much solved most of the issues I would have otherwise had with this story. Can I see why other people didn't like? Yep. Does that make me embarrassed by my own enjoyment of it? Not at all. I already know that this will go on my comfort rereads shelf - and you can never have enough books on that particular shelf.
review 2: This is one of those books where you either get caught up in the mood and atmosphere or you see all its failings a
... morend dismiss it as 'unrealistic. Needless to say, looking at my rating, I was one of the people who got totally caught up in it.The way Sonja gave a slight twist to the 'traditional' sheikh stories was interesting and fit the fact that Noori is a male. Noori's ability to help Shahin with his business presents the two with an interesting angle to expand their relationship to outside the bedroom and deepen it. Yes, the plot was simple, but that gave Sonja more time to explore other apects of the story.I guess overall I liked it for what it was: a fairytale which swept me off into a different world for a while. less
