review 1: This is a friends to lovers story, which is my favorite romance trope. However, this is a renewal of friendship, since the heroine, Katherine, had been married to someone else while the hero, Lucien, was a way at war. Her husband has since died, but he had been neglectful & verbally abusive, leading to her having little confidence & no desire to marry again. Lucien had always loved her & still loved her, but didn't know how to transform friendship into more, without scaring her away. A dangerous situation, a culmination of the series mystery, leads them to spend more time together & lends to the romance. Overall, this was a very satisfying romance!
review 2: The Danger in Tempting an Earl is the third in the series. This is a sweet story of a widow and a second
... more son of an earl who given a second chance to make beautiful Kate his. Lucien Marvaine is the new Earl of Roxberry and trying to make Kate see him more than a friend. Kate has always seen him as a friend but now she starts to see him as a man she desires. Since Kate miserable marriage she lost her confidence in herself and tries to resist her attraction to Lucien. The story start in the Kingsborough Ball,I was looking forward to find out who was responsible for shooting and the motive. It is a fun historical romance with modern dialogue and enjoyable read. Thank you Sophie Barnes less
