review 1: Hanging by a Thread was definitely a unique read: a typical small town murder with superpowers involved? Count me in! I was satisfied by the ending and was never bored by the mystery and plot. I was disappointed, however, by Clare herself. She was fresh and interesting, but also seemed extremely petty at certain points. The desire to have a boyfriend and loose her virginity (yikes! Don’t worry, her wish isn’t granted) sometimes (most of the time) overpowers her common sense. When she meets Jack (her knight-in-shining-armor), she abandons her friend's warnings that he is no good because she is unbelievably attracted to him. Even later on when Jack proves to have violent tendencies, she simply passes him off as a misunderstood sweet heart (totally Loki-style. Give me a b... morereak). Luckily, good character development cleans up that mess (sort of) and overall, the book was interesting.
review 2: You can either love this book, or hate it. I don't think there's an in-between, and I'm still trying to figure out which side I am on. I mean, I would've liked more detailed scenes about different scenarios that could've happened, and I feel as if she tried her best to compress everything that happened in the final moments as best as she could, but I feel as if she tried too hard and didn't manage to get quite what she was expecting. I give it 3.5 stars, I guess I'm not sure less
