review 1: I started watching AMC in 1971 as a college freshman and continued until it went off the air. As a huge fan of Susan Lucci I thought this would be an interesting book. Surely there would be some great stories and anecdotes about the behind the scenes stuff and her various costars over the years. Maybe some insight into some of her costars or things that happened during filming or at off site shoots. Instead it focused on how she and her husband and her 2 kids and her parents and everyone she ever worked with was absolutely wonderful. It's not as though I expected it to be gossipy, but it was just so bland. The part at the very end when the show was cancelled - then she talks about a few people who weren't so wonderful in her eyes. No question she's even today beauti... moreful and talented and a hard worker but this story wasn't interesting.
review 2: I watched All My Children for 32 of its 41 years. I learned a lot about the woman behind the iconic Erica Kane. At points I felt like Susan Lucci was reading me the story....I could actually hear Erica's voice. Admittedly, I was never a diehard Erica fan, but always considered her a great actress and one of the major support beams of a fantastic show. This book truly gives us some insight into her life and what it was like to be a character actress for four decades. less
