review 1: No one in our family is cross-eyed and stereo blind, but I got this book from the library because I wanted to know more about vision therapy. This account of the author's experience gives me so much hope in the plasticity of the brain and the potential for recovery (post-concussion). Even with 20/20 vision, there is so much more to seeing and being able to function and carry out activities of daily living. I wanted more information about some of the specific techniques, but understand why this could not be provided as this therapy requires medical training and supervision. But the diagrams that support the information about some of the available tools were really helpful in clarifying why these simple techniques can make a difference. Lots of footnotes! I feel more in... moreformed in going out to seek a vision therapist for diagnosis and treatment and really see vision therapy as a critical tool in making daily life pleasurable again and with less post-concussive headaches.
review 2: Excellent and unique. Neurobiologist Susan Berry describes how she achieved stereovision after intensive optical training, having lived with monovision most of her life. Extensively researched and a joy to read. Interesting for either monocular or binocular readers out there. There was a lot of information that I already know, but the new information, specially on the plasticity of the brain , was worth the price of the book. less

Not a memoir. I like science books but wasn't interested in eyes. And expecting mostly memoir.

How often do you think about what you see in 3D? Interesting, but a bit meandering.
