Tanner Colby manages to approach this loaded topic with a winning combination of thoughtful analysis and wry humor. He's particularly good at interweaving compelling local and personal anecdotes with some solid primary source history. Everyone should read this book--whether or not you agree with everything inside, you'll be a little more informed about the current state of race relations.
