review 1: This book gives anyone a great look into obsessive love. If you've never experienced it, you won't believe some of the actions taken by the characters in this book. If you have, you will understand completely and be impressed by the author's ability to tell this amazing story so realistically. One reviewer made a remark that no one would ever do some of the things the women in this book did. Yes, yes they would. Obsessive love turns off the part of your brain the makes common sense decisions possible. No way Cleo should have forgiven Jac, and yet, we know that she's helpless to it. No way Jac should have lied, but we know the crazy things you'll do when you fear losing love like that. It took me a while to get into this book, the first half of it dragged along for me. M... moreaybe it was just an adjustment period while i got used to the characters and the environment which was different from the yuppie vanilla books i'm used to reading. But about the halfway mark, i couldn't stop reading. Is Cleo going to forgive her, Is Jac going to tell the truth, are they going to be able to move on, who is the mysterious sugar-momma and is she going to want cleo back...? Once you get into the book, even if it takes a while, you wont be able to put it down until you get the answers to those questions and more. The author mastered these characters. You didn't even have to see their name to know who was speaking. And she mastered the passion and craziness of obsession. I loved the book by the end and i hope there is a sequel.
review 2: a very good book. the first book i have ever read about lesbian love and i was not dissapointed. A book that talks about love, commitment, fears, and forgiveness, not to mention a little drama. THe only reason why i didn't give it five stars because i think she brought drama there deliberately. Maybe it's my beliefs, but i don't think a woman would leave their kids behind for love and i don't think that anyone would forgive anyone from the secrets that the Jacqueline had kept from Cleopatra. That's just my beliefs. Not saying its not true, but i just don't believe it. less
