review 1: Taylor Armstrong is not the best writer in the world. However, she is very insightful and this book is important to read for people that are or may be victims of several levels of domestic abuse. There were parts of this book that were difficult to read. I literally had to put the book down because I couldn't believe that Taylor was a victim of such horrible physical violence and abuse. It was hard for me to imagine that she stayed through all of these humiliating and degrading acts that her husband imposed on her. Throughout the book, I found some nuances and parallels to my own life, although I have never experienced physical abuse during my relationships, luckily.I am interested in knowing about what happened to Taylor and how she is doing now. I wonder if she is stay... moreing strong and is making better choices with her relationships. I would love to see a follow-up on her situation.
review 2: I have to admit. the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is one of my guilty pleasures. But in honesty, I was never really too fussed about Taylor. After watching the show and hearing of her husbands suicide I was dying to read the book that she had written following these events. After reading this book- I really see this girl in a new light. In this autobiography, Taylor Armstrong, probably most well known as 'the skinny housewife with the big lips', discusses her abusive relationship with husband Russell Armstrong. She begins by talking about childhood, which in my opinion after hearing it, plays a big part in her personality and overall life story.I actually don't believe the reviews saying that she is lying, or that dates don't match up (I didn't notice any but I'm not a devout Housewife viewer). She wrote this only 3 months after Russell's death. My head would be scattered too. After reading her autobiography, I can see why Taylor appears so attention seeking and needy in the program. She points out that she sees her flaws and discusses why she thinks that she has them.Reading this book I see a lot of Taylor's qualities of insecurity and wanting to be needed and loved in a lot of girls I know (including myself). I have a new respect for Taylor now that I know what she has been through.I felt like Taylor name dropped a lot in this book, however some well known names play a big role in her life and I think that she feels the need to point out their help to her.Overall, I really enjoyed this book, I originally read it to find out why such a well educated and successful woman could fall into, and stay in, an abusive relationship. She really opened up my eyes to this. less
