review 1: I am a big fan of true crime. This is a horrific story of a family destroyed - the teenage daughter appears to be the mastermind behind her boyfriend murdering her mother and two brothers. Her father survives miraculously even after the house is also set fire. He literally loses his entire life that night including his daughter. As he struggles to understand why he survived and how to deal with his loss, he finds a page from a book while searching through the ruins of his burned out home several weeks after this horrific event. The words speak to him about God and forgiveness and he feels God is answering him - he feels at peace for the first time since that awful night. This is a story that is beyond comprehension and makes you be grateful for what you have in life.... more You never know when your life can change in a split second.
review 2: I downloaded this book for mere curiosity in how someone that lived through such a horrific tragedy would write a story on it. It was really hard for me to relate to Caffey in the way that he forgave his daughter and the other killers for murdering his wife and two sons! I understand his views in the Lord suffering for our redemption and can understand why he would feel the need to act in the same manner; I just personally could not do it. Overall, easy read, interesting story, and a lot of spiritual insight (if you're in to that kind of thing). less

Kept me gripped and intrigued. Couldn't put it down. Lots of violence. Sad story.
