review 1: Severe sexual harassment trying to masquerade as seduction. I read just under half of this book and I decided I couldn't stomach anymore when the "hero" of the book forcefully removed the female main character's dress because he wanted to see her ass then followed her assertion that she wouldn't change her mind about not having sex with him with "I'll make you." This is just one example of the various instances so far in the book where the author mistakes creepy, predatory behavior with sexy pursuit. I'm sure there are more such gems as the story continues to develop but I'm not willing to risk finding out. The Elliot character is sleazy, rapey and seems to have a very tenuous grasp on the concept of consent in sexual situations. I'm grossed out.

... moreC provided by the author for an honest review * Beyond the Velvet Rope was a great read by Tiffany Ashley. It was sexy, dramatic, and intense. Everything that we expect out of one of Tiffany's books! We loved how the characters grew throughout the length of the story. It was like Elliot evolved as a man in a way. We also really enjoyed how characters from Tiffany Ashley's previous book made appearances in this book. The story is about a club sexy promoter from Miami named Thandie. She could only dream about landing a club to promote like Babylon, and one day she got the job. She dreamed of promoting a club like Babylon and was beyond excited when she landed the gig. What she was not expecting was for the owner, Elliot Richards, to have an ego as big as his club. He was everything that she was not attracted to in a man. He was sexy, alpha, and egotistical. Although Thandie did not necessarily like Elliot at the beginning, they had a lot of chemistry between the two of them. This was definitely not a love at first sight book, which we really enjoyed. It became his mission to get Thandie into his bed. She tried to deny him as much as she could, but finally gave into him and they were intimate. He was showing her a level of passion that she didn't even knew existed. In her head, she knew that this was too good to be true and started to doubt that their relationship would ever go anywhere. Thandie knew that Elliot May have had some secrets in his arrogant closet, but never in a million years would she have guessed what they really were. Would her feelings for him change after she learns the truth? No cliffhanger. Can be read as a stand alone. less
