Couverture souple. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale.

Couverture souple. Condition: Bon. Description : Numéro 1803 dans la collection Grands détectives. Z. Lui, 1973 -- | Titre original : Monday, the rabbi took off | Traduction : Traduit de l'américain par Lazare Rabineau.

Spiral/Comb. Condition: New. No Jacket. Limited Edition Reprint. Early days in Wood County, WI, are recalled in this NEW 29 page 8 1/2" x 11" spiral-bound booklet, printed single-sided. The front cover is a parchtex card stock, protected with a vinyl sheet. The information comes from a rare 1881 book, entitled History of Northern Wisconsin. We've enlarged the Wood County section of a map from the original book, and included it along with two other maps of historic interest. Communities currently listed for this area by the National Association of Counties include: Arpin, Auburndale, Babcock, Biron, Blenker, Cameron, Cary, Cranmoor, Dexter, Grand Rapids, Hansen, Hewitt, Hiles, Lincoln, Marshfield (part), Milladore (part), Nekoosa, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Remington, Richfield, Rock, Rudolph, Saratoga, Seneca, Sherry, Sigel, Vesper, Wisconsin Rapids (County Seat), Wood. (Some towns may not be mentioned in the booklet.) Among the many subjects included are: Location, Natural Resources, and Physical Features; Daniel Whitney, Major Twiggs, and a fort made with stolen shingles; early saw-mills; an early hotel with limited accommodations; wolves; the Rev. J.S. Hurlbut; Early settlers and crude living conditions; Boundary changes; First county officers; the Wood County Agricultural and Mechanical Association and officers; Newspapers; Cranberry Culture; Early settlers and businesses in Grand Rapids; A.B. Sampson, hotel owner, and his generous Indian-attacking wife; Schools; Secret Societies with many names; Religious Institutions; Industrial Interests in Centralia; the post-village of Marshfield; early officers of Auburndale; the villages of Dexterville and Scranton; and many other interesting bits of history and trivia. Attention Genealogists: This booklet contains relatively detailed biographies of many county residents of the late 1800s. These frequently include ancestors, siblings, children, in-laws, affiliations, war records, and business activities, in the course of which they often shed light on area businesses, churches, professions and institutions, and on the events of the day. The longest of these is a detailed account of H.W. Remington, a determined pioneer. The others concern: John Armeah, Joseph Austin, Henry A. Baldwin, Hiram A. Bean, James W. Beattie, Nicholas Blau, Capt.
