Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A cutting-edge view of the digital humanities at a time of global pandemic, catastrophe, and uncertaintyWhere do the digital humanities stand in 2023? Debates in the Digital Humanities 2023 presents a state-of-the-field vision of digital humanities amid rising social, political, economic, and environmental crises; a global pandemic; and the deepening of austerity regimes in U.S. higher education. Providing a look not just at where DH stands but also where it is going, this fourth volume in the Debates in the Digital Humanities series features both established scholars and emerging voices pushing the fields boundaries, asking thorny questions, and providing space for practitioners to bring to the fore their research and their hopes for future directions in the field. Carrying forward the themes of political and social engagement present in the series throughout, it includes crucial contributions to the fieldfrom a vital forum centered on the voices of Black women scholars, manifestos from feminist and Latinx perspectives on data and DH, and a consideration of Indigenous data and artificial intelligence, to essays that range across topics such as the relation of DH to critical race theory, capital, and accessibility.Contributors: Harmony Bench, Ohio State U; Christina Boyles, Michigan State U; Megan R. Trade paperback. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No DJ issued. Paul Pugliese (maps), Dianne Kearns (cover photogr (illustrator). Second Printing [stated]. Format is approximately 5 inches by 7.75 inches. xiv, 434 pages, Decorative cover. Maps. Illustrations. Index. Inscribed on the fep by the author. Inscription reads: For Molly--with great memories of the While Cliffs, a future national park! Dayton. Dayton Duncan (born September 3, 1949) is an American screenwriter, producer and former political aide. He is best known for his collaborations with documentary maker Ken Burns. Duncan served as Chief of Staff to New Hampshire governor Hugh Gallen until the latter's death in 1982. In 1984, he served as deputy national press secretary for Walter Mondale's presidential campaign, and in 1988, as national press secretary for Michael Dukakis's presidential campaign. In 1998, President Clinton appointed him chair of the American Heritage Rivers Advisory Committee and Secretary of Interior Bruce Babbitt appointed him as a director of the National Park Foundation. Dayton wrote and co-produced the Ken Burns-directed documentaries Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery, Mark Twain, Horatio's Drive: America's First Road Trip, Country Music and The National Parks: America's Best Idea. He was also involved in Burns' series The Civil War, Baseball and Jazz. Dayton co-wrote Stephen Ives's Erik Barnouw Award-winning documentary series The West. Describes the author's trip through the American West--retracing Lewis and Clark's historic trail--and his encounters with the people who have adopted the myths of the West. Derived by a Kirkus review: At times, it seems as if half the writers in America these days are careening down country roads in beat-up campers, pestering the locals with questions about buffalo wallows and banana-cream pie, while the remaining half, just returned home, are busily transcribing their ketcup-stained notes on Fractured Fang, Wyoming, etc. Now, Duncan has, happily, made a lively contribution as one of the more accomplished purveyors of rural picaresque. Duncan is especially adept at handling the dual time frame of his story, alternating the day-to-day events of the 19th-century expedition with that of his own. In a particularly affecting passage, he recounts the experiences of York, the one black member of the Lewis and Clark party. York, it seems, was a favorite with the Indian tribes the group encountered. "Yet," Duncan points out, "no statues are erected along the trail to him, as they are for Lewis, Clark, the Indian woman Sacagawea, even Lewis' Newfoundland dog. I will find no streets, bridges, filling stations, or high schools named for him. . .I get the suspicion that were York to reappear and travel with me, he might get a chillier reception from the natives along the route than he did as a slave 180 years ago." Duncan also offers some not-too-tongue-in-cheek suggestions to readers tempted to follow in his tire tracks. Avoid "small-town restaurants. . .I call the Ks, places that use a k in their name when they should use a c--Korner Kafe, the Koffee Kup, the Kozy Korner." He recommends instead those roadside establishments that boast "a list of pies available, written with chalk on a slate" and those with "the first dollar bill the cafe earned, in a frame on the wall behind the cash register." A smoothly written combination of history and humor, sociological insights and serendipitous pleasures.

An electric vehicle (EV) is one that is powered by an electric motor rather than an internal-combustion engine that burns a mixture of gasoline and gases to generate power. As a result, such a vehicle is being considered as a potential replacement for current-generation automobiles in order to solve issues such as:- a) Growing Pollution b) Global Warming, c) Natural Resource Depletion, and so on. Despite the fact that the concept of electric vehicles has been around for a long time, it has garnered a lot of attention in the last decade as a result of the rising carbon footprint and other environmental implications of gasoline-powered vehicles. The global electric vehicle market is expected to increase at a CAGR of 21.7 percent. Increased government investments in the development of electric vehicle charging stations and hydrogen fuelling stations, as well as buyer incentives, will provide chances for OEMs to increase their revenue stream and regional footprint. The EV market in Asia Pacific is expected to develop steadily due to increasing demand for low-cost, low-emission vehicles, whereas the market in North America and Europe is expected to rise quickly due to government initiatives and the growing high-performance passenger vehicle segment. India's flagship plan for boosting electric mobility is FAME, or Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles FAME Scheme has been authorized by the government, with 86 percent of overall budgetary support has been set aside for the Demand Incentive, which aims to increase demand for EVs throughout the country. This phase will support e-buses, e-3 wheelers, e-4 wheeler passenger cars and e-2 wheelers in order to build demand. The book covers a wide range of information related to the manufacture of electric vehicles. It includes E- Car, Electric Bicycle, E- Scooter, E-Motorcycle, Electric Rickshaw, E- Bus, Electric Truck with Assembly Process, contact information for machinery suppliers, Directory Section & Factory Layout. A detailed guide on the manufacturing and entrepreneurship of electric vehicles. This book serves as a one-stop shop for everything you need to know about the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing industry, which is rife with opportunities for startups, manufacturers, merchants, and entrepreneurs. A printed copy of the sermon, "Get on the Water Wagon" by Rev. William Ashley Sunday (1862-1935). Perhaps better known as Billy Sunday, he was an American baseball player, who played as an outfielder in the National League, who later became one of the most celebrated American Evangelists of the late 20th century. "Get on the Water Wagon" was Sunday's most famous sermon, and as such he preached it on countless occasions. The sermon was about temperance, a movement of which Sunday was a most ardent champion of. "Listen! Seventy-five per cent of our idiots come from intemperate parents; eight per cent of the paupers; eighty-two per cent of the crime is committed by men under the influence of liquor; ninety per cent of the adult criminals are whisky made. The saloon is the sum of all villainies. It is worse than war or pestilence. It is the crime of crimes. It is the parent of crimes and the mother of sins." Within is a single printed halftone black and white image of man, with the caption "I'll Fight Till Hell Freezes Over". Front cover has a printed halftone black and white photograph of a portrait of the Reverend. 32 pgs. Printed wrappers. Staple binding. OCLC 0 (March 2021, there are other editions). Measures 8 3/4" x 5 3/4" Rev. William Ashley "Billy" Sunday was born on November 19, 1862 to William Sunday (1828-1862) and Mary Jane Corey/Cory (1840-1916) in Ames, IA. He had two older siblings: Albert Monroe Sunday (1858-1900) and Howard Edward Sunday (1861-1938). After the death of his father, his mother remarried James Mattison Heizer (1821-?) and she had two more children, Billy's younger half siblings: Leroy C. Heizer (1866-1944) and Mary Elizabeth Heizer (1868-1871). He married Helen Amelia "Nell" Thompson (1868-1957) on September 5, 1888 in Cook, IL, and had four children: Helen Edith Sunday (1890-1932), George Marquis Sunday (1892-1933), William A. Sunday Jr. (1901-1938), and Paul Thompson Sunday (1907-1944). Billy grew up playing baseball and in 1883 he was signed to the Chicago White Stockings a National League team. He played in the major leagues for eight years, and was an average hitter and a good fielder known for his base-running. He converted to Evangelical Christianity in either 1886 or 1887, and became heavily involved in the Temperance movement. He became well-known for his sermons and played a significant role in getting prohibition passed in 1918. Sunday's popularity waned after WWI, and even though scandal never touched him, his sons often engaged in the behavior he so often preached against. In order to keep that quiet, Sunday often paid blackmailers. In early 1935 he had a mild heart attack, and after refusing to follow his doctor's order to take it easy, he died on November 6, 1935, a week after preaching his last sermon, entitled "What Must I Do to Be Saved?" General wear and toning due to age. Covers partially detached. Burn mark by upper staple binding.
