Paperback. Condition: Very Good. "The highlights of my extraordinary journey with Mr Clarkson included pizza with Harry and Wills; dancing with Mick Jagger on the private island of Mustique (Mick had to pull me up after, shamefully, I could not recover from the twist!); and having happy birthday sung to me by Brian Ferry and Richard E. Grant.I was asked out by Hugh Grant (and went!); partied at what I called Jimmy Carrs celebtastic weekly house parties attended by Sir Elton John, James Corden and the like; and, at Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdochs engagement party, I received the ultimate compliment on my outfit from the Dame Joan Collins. The adventures, laughter, drama and excitement were neverending. Party after party, celeb after celeb, private villas, palaces, MPs and royalty adorned our crazy life on this road less travelled. From the low-budget, dark, smoke- and fume-filled halls of Earls Court Exhibition Centre and the NEC in Birmingham, where the highlights of our nights out were a good curry and gallons of beer followed by ridiculous games of girl-on-girl arm wrestling and the Celebrity Loo Roll Challenge this entailed Clarkson, Hammond, May or The Stig having to return from the bathroom with loo roll tucked down their trousers, trailing a length of loo paper from cubicle to table without it breaking Jeremy ascended to great heights, both in his professional career and his personal life. So too did our relationship, leading us both into a social circle that most can only dream of." In The Wonderful World of Jeremy Clarkson, Phillipa Sage shares her continuing adventures the ongoing highs, lows and constant mayhem she shared for so many years with Clarkson and his fellow presenters, Hammond and May, some of which she had begun to detail in her first book, Off Road with Clarkson, Hammond and May. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. While battles and wars and 'the clash of civilizations' are as old as time itself, there is little doubt that the conflagration of 19141918 was something unique and terrifyingly new. There was not a corner of the globe that did not feel its effects, some more than others, but the scope of its impact on economies, populations, food supplies, the character of governments in general and the day-to-day lives of numberless ordinary people, were such as the world had never experienced, nor expected. Little did anyone dream that the assassination of relatively minor figures of the Habsburg royal family, Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, carried out by an unknown Serbian teenager on the street corner of an obscure town called Sarajevo that few had ever heard of, could possibly provide a spark that would plunge the entire European continent into an industrialized war of catastrophic destruction. But it did: the two shots that youth fired were surely 'heard around the world', and several million people would perish or be maimed as a result. The story of World War I has been told by many different writers, historians and participants in many different ways, especially so before and during the centennial of its events that just concluded. All the World at War stands apart from many of these standard studies. It presents a familiar story from points of view that many readers might find surprising: unexpected details, different perspectives, atypical and generally insightful observations from contemporaries (often obscure to modern readers), who witnessed the events and personalities that pushed the war along from phase to phase. The narrative is chronologically arranged, beautifully written, with something new or intriguing on every page. This is a unique and finely paced account of 'The War to End all Wars' that didn't. AUTHOR: James Charles Roy is the author of seven distinguished books on European history, including the Book-of-the-Month and History Book Club selection, Islands of Storm. He has been praised by the Irish novelist Brian Moore as 'a writer both erudite and insightful', and William Butler Yeats's most recent biographer, historian Roy Foster, praised the recently published The Elizabethan Conquest of Ireland as being typical of Roy's skill, presenting 'original, challenging and creatively oblique views' of his material. Roy's work has been published by leading imprints in the US, Britain, Ireland and Germany. Also a gifted photographer, he has exhibited at the National Library of Ireland, the Boston Public Library and numerous other venues. He lives in Newburyport, Massachusetts, with his wife, the artist Jan V. Roy. Website: 16 colour, 32 b/w illustrations James Charles Roys history of the First World War offers a vivid and wide-ranging narrative, encompassing both events and individuals in a kaleidoscopic approach to a well-known story. C. Brad Faught, author of, among other titles, Kitchener: Hero and Anti-Hero. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Inspired by real-life class-action lawyers, The Education of Ryan Coleman begins in a Texas courtroom, where an ambitious attorney from Philadelphia chases his share of a lawsuit and gets his ass reamed by the judge. During this 'trial-by-fire,' Coleman meets Eugenia Cauley, a female legal shark whose life ends tragically, and Robert Smalley, a brilliant attorney and borderline criminal who boasts that 'I have the greatest practice of law in the world. I have no clients.' Coleman enters a hedonistic world of wealth and power, and becomes an errand boy and fixer for Randy Hollis, an insanely successful lawyer who is trying to buy a professional football team. Patrick Coyle, a prosecutor with an old grudge, and Dick Dickey, former Secretary of Defense and CEO of a military contractor, try to ruin Hollis and Coleman. When an escort mysteriously dies in Hollis' penthouse, Coleman must choose between telling the truth or going to jail. This satirical thriller reveals how our legal system enables lawyers to get filthy rich. As Mortimer Zuckerman, real estate magnate and media billionaire, once said, 'Practicing law is the exact opposite of sex. Even when it's good, it's bad.'I laughed out loud at the salty wise cracks on most every page. But the lightning paced humor provides a serious message about corruption in class action litigation. This is a hilarious satire about a very real problem. -Matt Flynn, author, Milwaukee Jihad Felgoise and Tabatsky take us on a wild ride into the intense and lucrative world of class action litigation. Sex, money and drugs are only part of the reward available for lawyers who are tough and crafty enough to play in a league where shameless greed is sometimes rewarded, but where the personal and professional risks are as big as the dollar signs. -James V. Irving, Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C., author, of Friends Like These and the Joth Proctor Fixer novels Filthy Rich Lawyers is expertly crafted and witty, which helps 'the medicine go down' as we follow Ryan Coleman, a naïve stooge, as he navigates his way through a craven, soulless world.-Rick Parks Professor, School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California, co-writer, Ever After and The Secret: Dare to Dream.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. For twenty-five years she was a corporate bitch, and now has shifted from bitch to rich! Do you have any idea how hurtful you are to people? Linda asked. She shook her head and did everything she could to avoid eye contact with me. I looked across the room at Sheila, searching for some validation of what Linda had said. All I could see was her slumped in her chair, sitting silently as Brian talked in her ear. As a young woman, Bernadette Boas was anything but a bitch. Raised by loving, Irish Catholic parents in a Philadelphia suburb in the 1960s, she was the middle child of twelve--a sassy, precocious girl with big dreams of a big life. At the age of eighteen, Bernadette left home with the love and support of her family and headed South to Boca Raton, Florida, where she began to climb the corporate ladder. There, amidst palm trees and sandy beaches, the sun began to set on her once glowing personality. A driven, ambitious young woman, Bernadette began to emulate the negative, competitive attitudes of her coworkers--men and women--in her quest for success. She gained a reputation for being aggressive, demanding, and brash. Through hard work and perseverance, she attained tremendous success and achievement through managerial and executive positions, but it came with a price. Eventually, she lost her six-figure corporate job and her bitch persona. "Shedding the Corporate Bitch" is one womans real-life admission of what its like to sell ones soul in exchange for ambition, greed and power at home and in the workplace. Its one womans apology to all the people she hurt over the years in pursuit of those goals. But most importantly, its her lessons, tips, and advice for aspiring corporate women who erroneously believe that manning up and becoming a bitch in order to achieve career success that is valuable. "Shedding the Corporate Bitch" provides an honest and hard look at the pros and cons of manning-up in the workplace, and provides tips and lessons of how women can avoid those same mistakes to realize the riches in life they desire. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book is the story of an African American man's strange Love, and passion for anything nautically related. Book I of the Nautical Negro was written 10 years ago duringMy first stay in the New York State Prison system. When I took to writing Book one I had never written anything before that time and was learning on the fly. So the stories in book one reflect my limited experience in the craft of writing . Book one does however give a very clear picture of my nautical development and the progression I've made throughout the years. Book II of The Nautical Negro was written during my last term of incarceration in 2009. Book II is a lot more comprehensive than book I , and the development of the writing of Book II mirrors in a lot of ways my evolution and development in the surf game. As you will read they have both come a long way. Book II also delves pretty deeply into my spiritual development and the path I believe that has been laid for me on this nautical journey I've undertaken. One message I do hope this book conveys is that no matter where you come from, no matter what your circumstances were coming up, never give up your dreams. Because if you can see yourself doing it, you can make it happen in reality. The last and most important impression I hope to leave on the readers is never let anyone talk you out of your dreams , or tell you , you can't do something. My father all ways said 'there's no such word as can't!' And that's how I always lived my life. That message is especially important to get out in the African American community , because all my life I heard people say ' I wasn't suppose to surf, or swim the way I did because I was black. And to me that's the worst thing you can do to a developing young mind. Young Brothers and Sisters need to be encouraged to expand there minds, and indeed there horizons by letting there natural talents blossom. T hey must be allowed to purse what ever endeavor there young hearts and minds desire. We have to convey the message they can indeed be something other than a Basket ball Player, or a Rapper, they can be Doctors, lawyers, or even Pro Skaters, and Surfers. So with that said I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoy sharing with you a piece of my unique, funny, sad, at times crazy, but never dull life. Brian BJ James Author of The Nautical Negro!.

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. After forty years of protest and debate, we all know one thing for certain about abortion: its a womens issue, right? Wrong, says Brian Fisher in his groundbreaking book Abortion: The Ultimate Exploitation of Women. In it he reveals long-forgotten or never-known facts to show that abortion is very much a mans concernand its part of a long and tragic pattern of men oppressing women. Which is why the original author of the Equal Rights Amendment, feminist Alice Paul, called abortion the ultimate exploitation of women. Fisher shows that a select group of compassionate men led the way in the nineteenth century to pass laws strengthening the criminalization of abortionand worked with feminists of that era to do so. But it was men, not women, who drove the campaign that led to the 1973 Supreme Court ruling giving women an unqualified right to end the lives of their unborn children. So whats in it for men? As feminist legal scholar Catharine MacKinnon observes, abortion does not liberate women; it frees male sexual aggression. Abortion is the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card for men with non-committal sex lives. Another agenda is at work as well. Men use abortion to advance their racist, eugenic, and population control dreams and schemes, as Fisher shows, citing their own words. If men gave us abortion, men can end it as well. Fisher outlines why and how, and he urges men to take up the task with courageous women. He lays out a five-point plan for men to with humility, faithfulness, and relentless perseverance, commit our time, resources, energy, heart, and testimony to ending abortion in America for the sake of women, men, and the family. A descriptive article published by the BBC 50 years after the founding of the magazine is below. The short life and swinging times of London Life Magazine In 1965, a magazine called London Life burst on to the scene and burned brightly for the briefest of moments. The magazine rose from the ashes of Tatler, which had been a flagship for six decades but by 1965 was considered stiff, starched and passe. The briefest flick through any one of these magazines is an invitation to enter a world so quintessentially "60s" it would be cliched if it were not so cool. The magazine's editor was Mark Boxer, cartoonist, social commentator and founding editor of the Sunday Times magazine, with a young man called David Puttnam as managing editor. Photographic contributions came from Terence Donovan, Ron Traeger and Brian Duffy, while Gerald Scarfe caricatured The Beatles in one issue and Bailey in another. The main fashion editor was Peggy Roche, who was hired from Elle magazine in Paris, and Shuna Harwood, who went on to become an acclaimed film costume designer, joined as assistant. Jean Shrimpton was an occasional guest fashion editor with her male counterpart, Terence Stamp, and a young artist by the name of Ian Dury drew a picture of Tony Bennett for one of the front covers.

From back cover: Find out why William Peter Blatty says: "Freeman writes like someone who has seen the darkness lurking within the human heart and is compelled to shine a light on our deepest fears. He writing will leave you both chilled and deeply moved." This collection features six dark stories that are a little different from Freeman's other works. Some focus on unusual characters; others are simply told in unusual ways. Contents includes: an Introduction by Ed Gorman; As She Lay There Dying; One Way Flight; The Gorman Gig; The Punishment Room; The Silent Attic; and, A Dreamlike State. "The Gorman Gig" is definitely not going like the others, and Mike and Jimmy have no idea how badly this job's going to end for everyone involved. As "One Way Flight" takes off, the man in seat 36-B awakens to find everyone else on his plane is dead, including the pilot. Now the clock is ticking and he doesn't have much time to figure out who he is,what has happened, and most importantly, how to get off the plane alive. In "The Silent Attic," Amy is haunted by the memory of her mother's last days, but will one last trip to the room where her nightmares were born set her free? Also advance title tale, "Danny Dreams," or, "A Dreamlike State" introducing readers to Danny Walker, who knows all too well that the life of the dead is often placed in the memory of the living. These thought-provoking stories show why David Morrell called Freeman's writing "elegant and haunting" and why Michael Koryta said Freeman writes "a taut, memorable tale." 117 pages. Insured post.
