Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. "Happily Ever Island is utterly magical. A fun, fast-paced tale of love, friendship, and finding your own path. I loved it!" --Morgan Matson, New York Times best-selling author of The Unexpected EverythingWelcome to Happily Ever Island, a pixie-dusted rom-com about two besties who win the trip of a lifetime filled with Disney magic. Head-in-the-clouds romantic Madison and driven pragmatist Lanie are unlikely best friends, but the two would do anything for each other. So when Madison's life starts to fall apart--her adviser tells her she'll fall behind unless she can pick a major like the rest of her class, and her girlfriend unexpectedly dumps her on the eve of their once-in-a-lifetime spring break vacation--Lanie agrees to join Madison for the test run of Disney's newest resort experience. They're headed to Happily Ever Island, an immersive vacation destination, where guests can become their favorite Disney character for a week. Madison has been the biggest Disney Superman since the first time she skipped onto Main Street, U.S.A., with her grandmother, whereas Lanie thinks she maybe watched a couple of Disney flicks when she was little (a crime against humanity as far as Madison is concerned). For their trip, Madison decides to go as the iconic princess herself, Cinderella, with Lanie as bow-wielding Merida. It's not Lanie's idea of fun, but she knows Madison needs her, and besides, she could use the break from her strenuous courseload anyway. Plus, maybe she'll get to shoot things. But once on the island, Lanie and Madison begin to drift apart. Madison finds herself either missing out or messing up all the enchanting moments she has dreamed about her whole life, and is forever running into their annoyingly perfect (and distractingly cute) vacation coordinator, Val. Meanwhile, Lanie unexpectedly finds herself swept up in the magic of it all. She begins a secret romance with Prince Charming--but there's no telling whether he's just playing a part. Soon the friends find themselves on a whirlwind of laughter, tears, and more than just a touch of Disney wonder. "When Disney superfan and hopeless romantic Madison gets the chance to test run Disney's newest fully immersive vacation destination that allows guests to become their favorite Disney character for a week, the eighteen-year-old college freshman jumps at the opportunity and begs her best friend Lanie to come along"-- Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Hardcover. First edition. First printing [stated]. xi, [1], 452 p. Notes. Index. From the investigative journalism who gave readers The Real Anita Hill comes a shocking new biography. The Seduction of Hillary Rodham combines the front-page news impact of James Stewart's Blood Sport with an insider's perspective on events and personalities provided by the bestselling Primary Colors to provide a political biography of a fascinating, complex figure who has evoked strongly contrasting reactions across the social spectrum. From Wikipedia: "David Brock (born November 2, 1962) is an American journalist and author, the founder of the media group, Media Matters for America. He was a journalist during the 1990s who wrote the book The Real Anita Hill and the Troopergate story, which led to Paula Jones filing a lawsuit against Bill Clinton. At the start of the presidency of George W. Bush his views shifted significantly towards the left. He founded Media Matters for America, a non-profit organization that describes itself as a "progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media." Brock was born in Washington, D.C., and was adopted by Dorothea and Raymond Brock. He has a younger sister, Regina. Brock was raised Catholic; his father held strong conservative beliefs. Brock grew up in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, where he went to Our Lady of the Assumption School, and later attended Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, New Jersey. He then attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he worked as a reporter and editor for The Daily Californian, the campus newspaper, sometimes expressing conservative views. He was an intern at The Wall Street Journal. He graduated from Berkeley with a B.A. in history in 1985. In 1986 he joined the staff of the weekly conservative news magazine Insight on the News, a sister publication of The Washington Times. After a stint as a research fellow at The Heritage Foundation, in March 1992 Brock authored a sharply critical story about Clarence Thomas's accuser, Anita Hill, in The American Spectator magazine. A little over a year later, in April 1993, Brock published a book titled The Real Anita Hill, which expanded upon previous assertions that had cast doubt on the veracity of Anita Hill's claims of sexual harassment. The book became a best-seller. It was later attacked in a book review in The New Yorker by Jane Mayer, a reporter for The New Yorker, and Jill Abramson, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal. The two later expanded their article into the book Strange Justice, which cast Anita Hill in a much more sympathetic light. It, too, was a best-seller. Brock replied to their book with a book review of his own in The American Spectator. In the January 1994, issue of The American Spectator, Brock, by then on staff at the magazine, published a story about Bill Clinton's time as governor of Arkansas that made accusations that bred Troopergate. Among other things, the story contained the first printed reference to Paula Jones, referring to a woman named "Paula" who state troopers said offered to be Clinton's partner. Jones called Brock's account of her encounter with Clinton "totally wrong, " and she later sued Clinton for sexual harassment, a case that became entangled in the independent counsel's investigation of the Whitewater controversy and eventually led to the impeachment of the president. The story received an award later that year from the Western Journalism Center, and was partially responsible for a rise in the 25-year-old magazine's circulation, from around 70, 000 to over 300, 000 in a very short period. Three years later, Brock surprised conservatives by publishing a somewhat sympathetic biography of Hillary Clinton, titled The Seduction of Hillary Rodham. Having received a $1 million advance and a tight one-year deadline from Simon & Schuster's then-conservative-focused Free Press subsidiary, Brock was under tremendous pressure to produce.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good Minus. 1st Edition. I'm assuming it's a first edition. I saw only one other for sale. 'Presented By E. R. Durkee & Co.' The other one was 'Presented' by a different business. 140 views. Black-and-white photographs. 1897 edition. Softcover. 32 numbered pages. Given its age, this magazine (I'll call it that) is in pretty nice shape. It does have a fold line (nothing terribly conspicuous) and there is a 3 1/4 inch tear that runs along it, coming off the middle edge of the front cover, so you have to be careful while opening the front cover (use both hands) if you want to prevent the tear from increasing. The tear is in the same place on the next page, but now it is only a meager 1" in length. On the next two pages it has diminished to 1/2" and then it is gone. There's another 1/2" tear off the middle edge of another page (in a different place) but that tear is limited to just that one page, and I don't believe there are any other tears on the pages. Getting back to the front cover there is another middle edge tear (3/4"), a small tear or two off its top edge, same thing with the bottom edge, also a little loss there. There is a 1/2 inch tear off the inner edge of the rear cover, a small loss at the bottom corner. There are several thin losses along the spine, but both covers are firmly bound. The binding is stapled. All the pages are nicely, tightly bound. All the pages look very clean. From page 15 on there is a tiny crease above the bottom corner, it goes 1/2" across just above the corner. On two pages that caused the paper there to come off, so there is a very tiny loss at those two corners and, as you can see, at the bottom corner of the rear cover as well, where it's slightly larger. I didn't mention that the covers are also clean, but you can see that. There are no markings in the magazine. There are no attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. So, all in all, it's in pretty decent condition.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - LA VITA E' TRISTE, MA PURE BELLA! (LIFE IS DIFFICULT, BUT ALSO BEAUTIFUL!)This story depicts the life and times of an amazing woman of Italian descent, Maria Elena Francesca Calabria, who faced many difficult situations in her eighty-seven-years of living in Italy and America. Throughout those years, Maria experiences much sadness and many very humorous situations. The reader recognizes that the common pattern of life is that the same things that bring us joy will also at some point in life bring us sorrow. My story will take the reader on Maria's journey from rags to riches and then from riches to rags. Maria's life followed a winding road that took her to a strange land where she learned a little about prejudice and a lot about courage, strength, perseverance and love. These years also covered some political history of Italy during the time when Benito Mussolini was a rising star. Maria and her brothers were very lucky to have left Italy just before Mussolini's liaison with Adolf Hitler, and just before the arrival of the Nazis. Maria's first American residence was in the little town of Madison, New Jersey, where she met and married Pellegrino Marra. The reader will travel with Maria from Madison, New Jersey to a section of Newark, New Jersey, known as 'Newark's Little Italy.' Newark's Little Italy proved to be an Italian-based city with many unique commodities and denizens. For example, there were some interesting characters that walked the streets of Newark selling fresh goods. This was a city where the locals had the ability to buy fresh tripe and fresh lamb's head from a man known as 'U Trippaiole.' Two other street peddlers were 'U Pizzaiole,' who pushed a cart carrying the best home-made pizza I have ever tasted. The next peddler, riding a horse and carriage, delivered the most delicious baked sweet potatoes and roasted chestnuts. He was known as 'U Fumo.' Finally, the colorful grocery store of 'Spezzafero' offered fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, along with Spezzafero's talking parrot, Cheech, who spoke fluent Italian and had no problem cursing at customers who came in and thieves who attempted to steal! The reader will be delighted to read about the different restaurants that provided excellent Italian cuisine to some very famous stars such as Jimmy Durante, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Jackie Gleason, Enrico Caruso, Abbot & Costello, Rocky Marchiano and others. Other noteworthy patrons were Al Capone, Lucky Luciano and many others. Another famous person who grew from the streets of Newark is Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini, who would later be known to the world as 'Mother Cabrini.' Readers will have the good fortune of meeting many humorous characters, some of whom Maria acquired after coming to America. These characters range from Maria's husband, children, her siblings, aunts, uncles, in-laws, family friends, a murderer and a promiscuous woman! It is through the various personalities of these characters that Maria's many attributes will become visible. Maria's entire life journey will bring tears of laughter and sorrow to many readers. All in all, the story lives true to its title, 'Life is difficult, but also beautiful!' Thank you for reading my book! Sincerely, Mary Rose Pagano.

She became the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1921. born in Portage, Wisconsin, which she often used as a setting in her writing. She attended Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and later entered the University of Wisconsin-Madison, from which she received a Bachelor of Literature degree in 1895, and four years later a master's degree. After college, Gale wrote for newspapers in Milwaukee and New York City, for six years. A visit to Portage in 1903 proved a turning point in her literary life, as seeing the sights and sounds of town life led her to comment that her 'old world was full of new possibilities.' Gale had found the material she needed for her writing, and returned to Portage in 1904 to concentrate full time on fiction. She wrote and published there until her 1938 death, but also made trips to New York. In addition to her fiction writing, Gale was an active supporter of the La Follettes (both Robert M. La Follette, and Philip La Follette) and progressive causes. She was an active member of the National Women's Party, and she lobbied extensively for the 1921 Wisconsin Equal Rights Law"--Wikipedia ; G. Book.
