About the Author

Today Cyprus remains the only nation in the world with a divided capitol city. The nation has a demilitarized zone cutting through it and the once mixed cultures of Greek and Turkish Cypriot speaking people living together in inter-communal villages are now divided.

I chose to tell this story as a family saga using a young woman as the main character. Through the voices of several characters, the complicated and confusing contemporary history of Cyprus is presented in a way that isn't burdensome to the reader. Over the years I've noticed that in regions prone to insurgent warfare, it is the women who are most influential in either maintaining or re-establishing peace, which is why I wanted the main character in my novel to be a young woman.

"The People In Between" was intended to entertain and enlighten at the same time.
