Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. 'Outstanding. Rich in details of Alaskan life, history, and archaeology, this fast-paced mystery builds to a satisfying conclusion. Fans will hope they won't have to wait another eight years for Liam's next outing' Publishers Weekly, Starred ReviewIT'S A NEW START FOR ALASKA STATE TROOPER LIAM CAMPBELL BUT THE SAME OLD PROBLEMS.It's Labor Day in Blewestown, Alaska, and it seems most of the town's thirty-five hundred residents have turned out to celebrate. Not Liam Campbell, though. He's been in town for about a week when an archaeologist invites Liam out to his dig site. He's on the verge of a momentous discovery, one he says will be well worth the State Trooper's time. Two days later, the archaeologist is dead, and Liam Campbell is about to learn that he's traded one troubled bush town for another.Praise for Dana Stabenow:'Cleverly conceived and crisply written thrillers that provide a provocative glimpse of life as it is lived, and justice as it is served, on America's last frontier' San Diego Union-Tribune'No one writes more vividly about the hardships and rewards of living in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness and the hardy but frequently flawed characters who choose to call it home' Publishers Weekly'If you have in mind a long trip anywhere, including Alaska, this is the book to put in your backpack' Washington Times Alaskan State Trooper Liam Campbell investigates the murder of a young archaeologist. Could the killing be connected to something the archaeologist had uncovered at their dig site? Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Condition: New. Marguerite Gavin gives a critically-praised performance in this audio version of the book. Stabenow was born, raised, and lives in Alaska, where the Shugak novels are set. This one has all the elements of a "can't put it down and it's 3:00 am!" mystery, plus her credible narrative of the Alaskan setting. We personally want to own our audio books, but the CD's are getting more difficult to find and so we were glad to come across this one copy. Running time 15.5 hours. Volume 18 of the Kate Shugak novels. New copies of this audio book are almost impossible to find. Amazon lists it tonight for $788, and that ridiculous auto- pricing amount is reflective of "none to be had." Our copy is new and still in shrink wrap.

Hard cocver. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. Map; 5 x 7 3/4"; 281 pages; NEW. Hard cover has grey spine with yellow lettering. B/W map. "The fifth book in Dana Stabenow's Alaskan crime series featuring State Trooper Liam Campbell, now in paperback Newenham is an ice-bound bush town with a six-bed jail, a busted ATM and a saloon that does double-duty as a courtroom. It's a wide-enough patch to warrant a state police presence, though, and Trooper Liam Campbell is it. Campbell has been exiled from Anchorage to Newenham in disgrace, busted down from sergeant to trooper in the aftermath of a mistake that cost a family of five their lives, to spend some time in the wilderness. Campbell didn't expect the job to be simple and it hasn't. From the (literally) cutthroat business of commercial fishing, to the paranoid misanthropy of the back-country prospector, to drug dealers, serial killers, and caches of forgotten war gold, he has had his hands full. Now he has a dead archaeologist, murdered at their own dig site, who claimed to be on the verge of a momentous discovery. Fans of the icy frontier, of mystery tinged with a frisson of romance, of laconic lawmen with good intentions, of tai chi and small aircraft piloting take note: Liam Campbell is for you.".
