review 1: This book is called Seriously, Cinderella is SO Annoying as Told by the Wicked Stepmother. This book is a traditional literature book and is written by Trisha Speed Shaskan. This is such a great book with a great twist on a fairy tale. The story is told from the perspective of the evil stepmother, who really isn't that evil. She tells the story about her marrying Cinderella's father. When the father went away on business, the girls cleaned the house. Cindy (as they called her) would always get done so fast, and then tell the girls stories about how the animals helped her. The stepmother begged her to stop talking, but Cindy went right on with her stories. One day an invitation arrived to go to the ball. Suddenly Cindy lost her voice. Her stepmother told her to rest up, bec... moreause a ball was no place for a sick girl. While at the ball, the stepmother saw a girl with a beautiful dress. Then a few days later the prince came to find the girl who fit the shoe. It was Cindy! A few days later they got married, and the Stepmother says "he has no idea what he is getting into." I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to reading other books like this. This would be a great book to have the class act out. This would also be a great book to teach about multiple types of fairy tales. I would use this book for earlier grades like pre-school through 2nd grade. This was such a fun book to read, and I'm sure the students would love to laugh along with me while reading this book. This book would also be a great book to do a compare and contrast with the Disney version. Overall I really enjoyed this book, and would welcome it in my classroom. I gave this book 5 stars!
review 2: I really enjoyed this book! You never hear another person's side of the story of "Cinderella" so hearing it from the Step-mother was quite entertaining. Trisha Speed Shaskan wrote with such humor when describing Cinderella's personality and her incessive need to talk. The author made me as the audience feel sympathetic towards the step-mother and sisters and feel almost as if Cinderella didn't deserve what she got. Overall, I would LOVE to buy this book for my classroom or even myself! less

A good example to show how a story's details can be explained in a variety of ways. Fun.
