review 1: Boring. Lost interest. Really tried to push my way through this book, his mother sounded interesting and I really hoped the book was going to focus more on her life and accomplishments, instead it is just a book about him talking about all these books him and his mother read, many of the books I'd never heard of. It's like listening to a friend tell you about a book they read when you have no interest in it.
review 2: Written by son as he shared the last two years of his mother's life after her cancer diagnosis. But rather than just talk of illness during their almost daily visits, they decided to have a book club for two - reading books and sharing their thoughts. Some wonderful words of wisdom and insight on what illness and the dying process is about. A r... moreemarkable woman who gave so much to others throughout her life continues to fight to the end --- "Just by giving friendship and love, you keep people around you from giving up --- and each expression of friendship or love may be the one that makes all the difference." I am grateful to a mother who encouraged reading as a lifelong learning adventure and all the joys and education on many levels that it has brought. less
