review 1: I loved the author's writing style, I thought he was funny. I felt this was mostly a true representation of how it is in the Corrections because I used to be a Correctional Officer (CO). Of course I couldn't speak for some of the medical part of it since I have not studied it. However, the rest definitely sounded like prison and/or jail life! I was surprised the author used the inmate's names. Perhaps I missed a note about it, but I would think that information would be kept private.
review 2: I won this in a Goodreads giveaway.Well written memoir of a part of society I never before gave a thought about. Being a native of Colorado and having relatives who live in Canon City there was a connection to the place but also recognition of my reluctance to acknowledge
... more the fact that there are some pretty nasty characters who also live in that area. Good to know there are people like Dr. Wright who do deal with this ugly aspect of society with integrity and a healthy sense of humor. I recommend this book to non-fiction/memoir fans and I look forward to Dr. Wright's next book. less
