review 1: 'Today I'm Alice' is a stunning autobiographical account of a life struggling with multiple personality disorder. It is a powerful and moving story of a young woman coming to terms with the abuse she suffered at the hand of a man who she was supposed to be able to rely on. We witness her trying to pick up the pieces in this bold and terrifying novel. The narrative is strong and easy to connect with, making it a more haunting tale. This book has stayed with me for years as it resonates on such a personal level, as it feels as though you are conversing with the author.I would recommend this book to everyone, especially people who deal this kind of fate to others as it might give them a taste of how hard life is after suffering such horrific crimes.
review 2: I've
... morenever been one to read childhood-trauma books such as this one, because my mind tends to overthink it too much and I get far too into the books themselves and find myself thinking I'm living through the author's suffering.Today I'm Alice was the first trauma book I read voluntarily and will be the last. It shocked me more than I can say, and even years later I still remember reading it and the horror she went through and I'm rattled all over again. less
