review 1: Picked this up while browsing at the library. It was really the artwork (by Sungyoon Choi) that drew me in and I didn't even read the description. It's a touching, true story of a woman whose husband died in the Twin Towers on 9/11 and how she navigated the aftermath with their newborn son. It's a very honest account with a sincere look at dealing not only with loss and pain but with the public, bureaucracy, judgment, and finding meaning again in life.

I wanted to feel empathy but I thought the telling was rather cold and impersonal and so I found found myself getting annoyed with her complaints. They were legitimate complaints but for some reason, the way they were told was off-putting This is not a story unique to Alissa and I feel for everyone that was put in that terrible situation. However I think there are better ways to tell the story. less
