I loved this story from beginning to end. I loved the way Charles Sheehan-Miles gives us a dual point of view into Juila and Crank's hearts and life. The story was so emotionally painful within the lives of both families that it brought me to tears many times. Mr. Miles gives us such detailed into Julia and Crank's lives and their extended family lives that you can feel their pain, their love, their disappointments and their joy. I love a book that grabs my attention and holds my heart so tight that it's hard to breathe at time and all you can do is cry with then or for them. That is what Charles Sheehan-Miles did with Songs for Julia, I loved everything about it.
Well this book was not what I have been reading lately. This was NOT full of sex and I love you's after day one of meeting nor was it trafficked women and dominance either. I enjoyed the slower pace of this relationship and the changes Crank and Julia made in each of them. This wasn't all hearts and flowers but it wasn't all angsty either. There were big issues discussed that happened in the past but really this was a pretty mellow book.
Enjoyed this enough that I'll look for the rest of the series.
You have done it again Charles Sheehan!!
