The Spook, Tom and Alice have returned from Greece, but the County isn't the same place anymore. The Spook's house is gone, burned, and along with it, his library. The war's come and it's not safe in the County anymore. The Spook decides they must flee to the island of Mona.Wow. What can I say about this book? Things just seem to keep getting harder for everyone. Good and evil isn't so black and white. Tom and the Spook are having to use things that would be considered dark magic to make it through some situations. They don't agree with it, but they have no over choice. It seems to be really hard on the Spook, as it is going against everything he believes in and was taught. I feel bad for the Spook, Tom and Alice. The last chapter made me cry because of what Alice said to Tom. I'm not going to spoil it, but I am very sad for her.Great book. I'm going to start book 8 right away.

Tom Ward, Alice, and the Spook have fled the county after discovering that the invading army has burned the Spook's house and all of his precious books about his life's work have been destroyed. They land on the island of Mona and are greeted by hostility, Alice and Tom are nearly killed when they are tried as witches, and all three end up in the Keep's dungeon where they will be sacrificed to a soul-stealing buggane. To top things off, Alice's mother Bony Lizzie has also made her way to the island and has her sights set on ruling it and seeking vengeance on the Spook for keeping her locked in a pit for so long. This one was a bit long in the tooth, but enjoyable if you have read the entire series.

I still haven't figured out why this is book is named "Rise of the Huntress." Who is the Huntress?

Not the best in the series but one of the most bloodiest for sure
