review 1: This book was funny, sad, and very real. I did enjoy the author's sense of humor and could relate to a lot of it. She didn't seem to hold anything back (even her embarrassing moments), which I appreciated. However, it was unfocused and written in almost a stream of consciousness. There were also parts that I think she needed to elaborate a little more on (like why her best friend was so mad at her and dumped her as a friend via email). She never explained that. The most poignant parts were the stories about her mother and her mother's struggles with dementia. It made me want to read a biography or autobiography about someone living through the stages of dementia. God, I hope it never happens to me or anyone else in my family...
review 2: This book was remarkably
... more fresh. I found myself, to the horror and humor of those around me, reading passages aloud to friends. I was not expecting it to be short vignettes about things that happen to all women, not just menopausal women. But what I really wasn't expecting were the sprinklings of poignant, touching stories regarding her relationship with her mother. A fantastic book that I will recommend again and again. less

Some laugh-out-loud menopause stories mixed with author dealing with her mother's dementia.
