review 1: Excellent book, fun to read and detailing the college application process for the stressed out parent.Only minus: the chapter on financial aid is more ideological than practical - really, college costs increase because grants to poor students increase (confusing/reversing cause and consequence...)? Or loans are "free money" so they subsidize universities, encouraging them to increase costs (universities in most developed countries are subsidized, none cost as much as in the US)?Other than that chapter, all others are very informative and if they're subjective and biased, you know right from the start, there's no attempt to pass that as objective information. Overall I really recommend it, especially if you're an upper-middle class parent of a high school child, or a first ... moregeneration student wondering about the process as seen by those who are successful at it.
review 2: Having gone through the experience with our Son #1 four years ago myself, and facing the early action deadline in about 4 weeks for our Son #2, this book made me chuckle numerous times as the author humorously describes some of the absurdities involved in the college entrance process. I particularly liked the chapter on college essays. I recommend this book to any parents who have college-bound kids. less

Not sure who the audience is. And it's not entertaining or informative.

Wonderful. Very funny, and poignant, too.
