review 1: I enjoyed this book. It offers intriguing insight into a life very different from mine, and I think that’s often the point of reading—to get a peek at worlds unlike your own. Angela is honest and doesn’t sugarcoat anything, which is what makes this such a good book. The dialogue sometimes sounded stilted and I couldn’t quite hear those voices speaking, but all the other aspects of the book really rang true for me. I didn’t grow up in a military family and I would never survive as a military wife, but I did grow up near a naval base with friends in military families and I grew up with family in the emergency services field, which is very different than having a dad go off to a job as a school teacher or accountant, so I could definitely relate to much of her story... more—I think anyone could. This is an interesting, enjoyable read.
review 2: Kind of a train wreck..... Not well written but I wanted to keep reading. Is it fiction-ish? The author, apparently a whiney military wife, has changed names, but it seems that anyone who knows her would know these characters. Hard to imagine that her hubby (Jack? Darrin? Lieutenant Dan?) appreciated this gossipy stroll through his military deployments, complete with jabs at other officers and their wives, but it was entertaining. less

Abysmal writing. Couldn't get through this book because the writing was that painful.
