review 1: Be prepared-this is a very scholarly take on women and alcohol. Lots of scientific info but also great insights from female alcoholics about how alcohol has effected their lives and how they have dealt with their addiction. The chapter on being the daughter of an alcoholic mother really rang true for me. The author has been to hell and back and is gracious enough to share her experience, strength and hope.
review 2: For some reason, I feel guilty for rating this book at 3 stars and not 4. But for me, 3 is right. ... morehe was willing to just bare anything in an attempt to send some kind of message to her reader, while at the same time left me feel guilty for wondering that. For one thing, far be it from me to cast aspersions on someone for over-sharing! Been there, done that! But there were times where I felt that if she had shared just a bit less of her own experience, the rest of the book would have more impact. I think that sending the reader away with a greater awareness of both the issues and of their own relationship with alcohol is a success. less
