review 1: An old theme in a freshly visioned package. A few poignant bits (I would have let her wear the outfit she was comfortable with on her first day instead of that prissy sailor dress). Lots of laugh-out-loud bits (at least for adults - not sure if the kids would laugh or even get their feelings hurt if they heard the adult laugh)."Annalina takes too many letters. I am going to change my name to Anna and save the lina for when I am bigger."And I love the pink and sparkly snail Annalina drew for her pink friend Zoe. And I love everything about her other best friend David M. And I love A's vision of herself as a big 1st-grader, being nice to a little Kindergartner.
review 2: This is a great book to use in the Pre-K classroom towards the end of the year when chil
... moredren are getting ready to transition to Kindergarten. It helps children acknowledge their fears and worries about Kindergarten especially if they are changing schools. The book explains in detail the activities and routines that occur in a Kindergarten classroom. It helps children focus on the fun that awaits them and prepares them for easy transition.ExtensionAfter reading this book in a large group setting discuss with the children what they think about Kindergarten and how it is going to be different. Then take them for a field trip to visit a Kindergarten classroom in an elementary school. Arrange for them to spend some time in there exploring the classroom. less
