review 1: As a reader of Cathy's blog, I was excited to read it, but was disappointed by it. She writes about the issues in her life (breaking up with boyfriend) without referencing her experiencing any emotion. I didn't think there was enough practical talk about how to deal with only eating in. She is an experimental cook, but her dishes always seem to work out anyway, whereas someone else doing this might stick to more basics to just make sure they can accomplish feeding themselves on a daily basis. I thought there might be more angst about missing out on the social life involved in going out to eat, but she luckily ends up with a group of friends who love dinner parties, avoiding that issue altogether. On top of all of that, I thought the writing was only average, just like her ... moreblog, not worth geting a book deal for except that she had this gimmick going for her. But the book was really a chronicle about her typical 20 something drinking and cooking adventures than what it means practically to eat in more.
review 2: This book was good,it just wasn't what I was expecting it to be. I was expecting a book that was more of a how-to with recipes and some personal anecdotes, and it was actually more of a journal that was loosely tied to food/experiences with food with a recipe or two at the end of every chapter. Again, not a bad book, but it was more about what was going on in her life at the time of her experiment than the experiment itself. Interesting? Yes, definitely, just not what I thought it would be. less

This was a really great book! The writing wasn't spectacular but the story itself is remarkable.

Worth reading and inspiring in terms of finding your niche and starting a blog and going for it!

This could have been half as long and would have been a much better book.
