review 1: Sorry I forgot my book review and read this about two weeks ago:I liked this book in many ways. First, I like it cause it is about baseball and I play Baseball. Also, the book has the theme that its never to late to fufill your dreams. Although, this book angers me that Chris didn't go to the Mets (haha) and instead was in thwe Phillies farm System. This book is a good read for those who believe in comeback stories and love baseball.
review 2: I listened to the audio version and finished it over one weekend. I don't usually read books about sports figures. They have a mentality I just don't get. I'm not quite sure why I chose this book (maybe it was just the memory of Dennis Quaid in the movie--he has the absolutely best smile!). The movie is terrific, no qu
... moreestion, but the book is even better. While the movie is about a man's dream and about baseball, the book is about a man's life as he learns to live without the dream and with reality. There's so much to love about this book I hardly know where to start. I think his honesty about his relationship with his wife and how hard they worked to save their marriage should be helpful to anybody who's trying to create a life with someone else. I loved seeing the difference between the young talented hotshot playing baseball, loaded with talent but also with immaturity, and the older man who had a lot more going for him than just a good arm. I think what I love most was seeing how all the disappointments in his life led him forward into unexpected places. When he no longer had baseball, he found out that he actually liked school and science and that he was good with people, especially students. Not just as a coach but as a teacher. Even after his second experience playing baseball, he once again found himself in a rather surprising place, as a motivational speaker. I can believe it. Author Chris Coste did a terrific job making it Jim Morris's book. Jim's voice is clear all the way through. less

A feel good book, a must read for any Phillies fan. Not the best written book, but a quick read.
