review 1: Clearly Cassandra is the best character, though Masha IS in fact a latter-day Norma Desmond (so +5). The play sets itself up interestingly but kind of burns out at the end with Vanya's rant which passes as nothing more than a collection of grouchy, nostalgic old man stuff about how times are better. It's an extended monologue and it's disappointing because clearly Durang is not the sort to go in for convention. Would have liked to see the play take a wackier turn at the end.4/5
