review 1: Colson Whitehead should stick to writing novels. The Noble Hustle is more of an exercise in self indulgence than a book about poker. Rambling about his inner demons and hapless attempts at humor that fall flat almost had me give up on this book. But, it's a short book at a little over 200 pages so I decided to see it through to the end. There was a slight improvement in the final third of the book when he actually arrives in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, but I was expecting a little more excitement. After all, it's LAS VEGAS dammit! Not recommended for anyone who wants to read about poker.
review 2: There's very little about poker until the second half of the book, and even then it's not all that interesting. The book was filled with a copious number
... more of one-liners, delivered nearly in every other sentence, which became really grating after the first 30 pages or so. I got the impression that the author was more in love with his witty prose than actually telling the story about his experience at the WSOP main event. less

This book was poorly written and for those who play poker only. It was a difficulty read.
